Q. Some other libraries are opening, why isn’t Westminster?

Answer

We appreciate how valuable Library spaces are to our students and therefore understand why students are keen to begin using them. The University of Westminster is in a somewhat unique position in regard to our location and buildings. We have very central campuses, largely accessible only by public transport and our Libraries are located within the heart of our buildings, without separate entrances. To ensure that we keep within guidelines, the University is operating at partial building capacity and opening the Library spaces would breach that threshold. The University will continue to review this and respond as circumstances and guidance change.  We have examined the services offered by other central London universities who have similar challenges and they are likewise unable to open their spaces for study at this time. We are exploring offering further access to our physical collections, so please use our guide to the support we are offering during the COVID 19 pandemic, where we will post updates about our services.
